Last Post from Houston...
Sadly (and happily) I am posting for the last time here in Houston. My mother came into town today to help us move and she has been a HUGE help already. We have everything packed that we don't even have the right pans to cook with (see the bread below).

Gaveston - Day 2
It was definitely not a smooth day for us. Diana bit her lip so hard that it bleed for a couple minutes. That didn't stop her from eating though! :)
Here's Part 1 of our fun day at the beach:
Here's Part 2. To add to our worries, our car started to leak from the top of our windshield. It was a good thing we were in our car when it started because it would have leaked into our stereo if we didn't catch it. Luckily we had a water bottle to catch the water.

Family
This weekend Robin, Joe, Kylie, and Alyssa came to visit and it was definitely a time to remember. We went to Galveston to have fun at the beach, get a little sun, and get our feet attacked by little sea creatures. Alright, we didn't go to the beach expecting the last one but it happened!
Since Joe and I didn't have any success catching the fish jumping out of the water, we decided to try to catch crabs! Actually, when I say "we," I mean Joe. He was the only brave one to put his hands on the ocean floor and let the crabs bite him. (I got bitten once on my right hand and it was over for me.) It was the wierdest experience having little tiny crabs walking over your feet while biting you every now and then. I still have the sensation of the crabs walking across my feet. Just imagine large spiders walking across your feet and you can feel the sensation.
The crabs definitely made it an experience to remember and I am glad we went back in the water (it wasn't until the 3rd time in the water to get bitten). Three girls (Diana included) were chicken and didn't even let their feet touch the ocean floor. Two girls have good excuses, I don't know about the other. :)

Ahh, practicing his Daddy skills already!
So cute!! Ken is going to be such a great Daddy! I thought this picture was just so precious. I know he is getting so excited about the baby already. I started taping all of those Baby Stories on T.V. and Ken actually watches them when I'm not even in the room. I love it! But we all know that he is probably going to pass out when the time finally comes. :) Diana
Miniature Golf...
Diana and I played miniature golf today at Funtiki and even though Diana put up a great effort, she lost. She found it hard to keep her golf ball on the course and even ended up in the river! It was nice because we were the only ones playing since it was so hot outside today. I guess we were the only crazy ones.

2 month update...
I know you have all been patiently awaiting news of the spider. We had Diana's friend come over the other day and she determined that the spider was in fact dead. As you can see in the picture below though, the cup is still there. We are still too afraid to move it because it could be faking death!

Diana and I found another spider today in our house but Diana found enough courage to get a cup and actually scoop it into it. She took it oustide (because she won't kill spiders) to release it. She was sure to not keep it close to our house though. She went down the block to a neighbor's house to relaase the lucky spider. (Sorry neighbors!)

To make it worse...we are moving in less than 2 weeks to what is called the "Spider Ranch." I think we are going to need more cups.

Father's Day...
The day before Father's Day, Diana and I went to a friend's wedding near San Antonio. Since we were in the area, we decided to go to Sea World one last time before we leave. Even though the heat was a killer, we had a blast! We got to see a western show that we didn't see last time. It had about 100 rescued animals in it including ducks, dogs, cats, a goose, a mini horse, a skunk, and a mini-pig (see picture below). All these animals were professionally trained and it makes me wonder why our dogs can't even sit when told. I also got to visit the Anheuser-Busch house and got to sample many different Anheuser-Busch beers with the different foods that they go best with. It was awesome to get to taste free food and free beer. We walked about 10 miles throughout the park and got to see many animals which we love. My favorite, as it was when I was little, were the killer whales! It is amazing that a giant animal like that could be trained to do so many things. If teaching doesn't work, we might have to move to the closest Sea World.
Happy Father's Day Dad!
P.S. Do you see Diana's belly????

Relaxation...
With school out, the last couple days have been an awesome time of relaxation, eating, and more relaxation. When we actually get out into the real world, we have had a lot of fun. Yesterday we had to leave because they were showing the house so Diana and I went and saw Kung Fu Panda. It was a lot better than I expected and I probably would even buy it when it goes to DVD. Today we found ourselves at the Houston Miller Outdoor Theatre. It's pretty cool. It's an outdoor theatre in Hermann Park where there are free plays, concerts, and fun stuff that everyone can enjoy. Today we saw a play based on the book "The Giver." Afterwards, we went and found a tree to lay under for more relaxation. We couldn't stay too long though because 95 degrees and humidity doesn't go well together. Other than the heat, we had a very relaxing couple of days!

Do you see what's in the background making Diana so happy?

The Zoo...
Since Diana and I have a lot more time on our hands now that school is done, we are going to actually get out of our house and see Houston! We only have about 20 more days left here in Houston and we are going to try to do something fun every day until we move. Today we chose to go to the zoo...
The Houston Zoo is downtown in the middle of all the skyscrapers which makes it pretty cool. There are not many places in the world where you can see an Asian elephant and a 50 story building at the same time. We figured today was a great day to go to the zoo since it is Tuesday and there wouldn't be too many kids there. (School is over, we are trying to get as far away from kids as possible) Well, we found out that we picked the wrong day. Pretty much every day care center and private school in Houston were there with us. Not a great start.
One of the first things that we saw was the Meerkat exhibit. We were pretty excited because we used to watch Meerkat Manor on Discovery all the time. They sure know how to live life...almost all of them were relaxing in the sun the entire time we were there.
The next exhibit we went too was the Primates. I love this picture because this was the only time he looked at us.
The Big Cats Exhibit was next and we were happy to see the lions up close. The female did not want her photo taken. :)
We were excited to get to see a father, mother, and baby elephant. On our way out, the baby was playing with one of those huge tires like it was a donut. I don't think the elephants in the wild get to play with the same thing.
This African pig just had a baby 3 weeks ago. We couldn't believe that it could have been any smaller. Our cats are definitely bigger than this baby.
This next animal got out of its enclosure and got within a couple inches of us. We almost thought that we were going to be attacked and make the news. We really were lucky to escape.
This was one of our favorite parts of the Zoo. If only we could have this much fun.

Tay's Toy
For those of you who have not met our newest little one, he is a ball of energy. He is constantly chasing the cats, chewing on Diasy's ears, and playing with his toys. He recently found an old toy that we bought before we had him and it has easily become his new favorite toy. Here's a short video of Tay and his toy:

Wow...
It's official! We are having a baby! Ever since we took the 5 pregnancy tests, I have still had a small doubt that a baby could actually be in Diana. It just seemed crazy to me. My doubts were killed today when we went to the doctor for the 1st time. Diana and I got to see a very tiny human being with a very strong heartbeat that even moved for us. We were VERY excited about the whole process and can't say that we have changed much since. I am the kind of person to have to "see it to believe it." Well, now I definitely am a believer. The doctor said everything was normal and that we didn't need to worry too much. We also found out our official due date is January 19th, 2009.
Diana was happy to find out that her weight was fine and that it was normal that her pants were not fitting this early into the pregnancy. Now I can't make fun of her anymore. :( I always told her that we were having triplets with that belly!

This is our baby!!!

(ENLARGE for better view!)
In other news, Diana took a long nap again today. This seems to have developed into a ritual. I guess it's better to get as much sleep as we can now because we know we are going to be missing it later.

Frank Barone
Yesterday we hit the 2 month mark. Since we found out, a lot of things have changed. For those who know Diana well, you know that she has quite an appetite. That has definitely changed. Many things do not sound good to her anymore; many making her feel sick just thinking about them. She tells me that she feels like she has a "permanent finger down her throat." Her Italian mother is happy though because the one type of food that she is craving non-stop is Italian food!
We are lucky that Diana hasn't had morning sickness bad enough to throw up yet. I saw "we" because I probably will thow up when I see Diana throw up. Diana's belly has gotten a little bigger and will get bigger faster now. She is supposed to gain one pound a week from now on. Diana had to go to the store and buy 2 pairs of pregnancy pants last week because she got sick of rubberbanding her pants together since she can't buckle any of them anymore. I kinda feel like I am living with Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond. Most the time, Diana is sitting on the couch eating, with her pants undone and her belly hanging out. Oh yeah, and belching too!

Happy 24th
Diana and I have created our own birthday tradition since we are not too big on the giving presents to eachother thing. Our tradition states that the birthday girl (or guy) gets to plan out the entire day with things they want to do and the other person has to go along with it. Well this year, Diana decided that she wanted to punish me by going shopping! Luckily, her birthday landed on a Sunday this year which means less hours to shop...hah! We did get some shopping in, went to the Alamo Drafthouse Theatre, and relaxed a whole lot at home. We didn't get to eat at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants like we planned yesterday so we went today.
One of the main reasons that Diana loves this place is the animals. There are tons of ducks, turtles, geese, and even beaver-looking things. Since we have been here in Houston, we have got to see about 2 dozen little ducklings grow up into ducks. Pretty cool. We even got to save 2 ducklings from getting run over in the parking lot (almost took them home). Diana has evem got to feed those "rats on steroids" up close and personal. She was so close that I thought I would have to take her to the hospital to get tested for rabies. This will be one of the last chances we get to eat at Cafe Adobe. Diana will sure miss all the animals; oh yeah...and the food.
